INTRODUCTION TO THE NANYANG MBA INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME
Dear Partner Organization,
The NANYANG MBA programme is a 16-month programme, comprises of 4 trimesters starting from July and ending in Oct the following year. Our Strongest Value is the DIVERSITY of the MBA cohort – in terms of nationality, race, gender, work experience and industry sector (please see our profile of the new FULL TIME MBA intake that graduates next Oct 2009).
Our Full-time MBA students will be given the opportunity to opt for evening classes from December onwards (Trimester 2 onwards), leaving their day-time available for internship projects in Singapore. The duration of the project is dependent on your need and requirement and thus, could range between 2 weeks to months till they graduate in October, the following year.
In summary, the NANYANG MBA offers your organisation MBA Talent for 2 types of internship/project programmes:
A. Project-based (as early as December of this year)
B. Summer Intern programme (beginning every June)
Why consider a NANYANG MBA for an internship/project work?
1. Profile of NANYANG MBA Intern - Our average GMAT is 650 (highest is 720), and we have many 1st class honours from top schools in their respective home countries. We have 23 different nationalities ALL CURRENTLY IN SINGAPORE, and who are open to returning to their home country to work for a Singapore-based company or global MNC or relocate to your offices across the globe. They have completed the core MBA courses by December of this year, and hence are equipped with the strategic and finance assets by January to begin any internships.
2. Availability and Time Flexibility - You do not have to wait till June next year to start assessing possible MBA for your organisation. Our programme offers you the flexibility and immediacy of your recruitment process as follows:
a. You do not have to wait till June the following year to start "testing an MBA", but can begin as early as possible or when a need for an MBA arises within your organisationb. You can have as many NANYANG MBA Interns in various projects to "test and evaluate" the ones that most fit your organisation for more than the usual traditional Summer Intern monthsc. You can employ the NANYANG MBA Talent almost immediately once the summer internship is completed as our MBA graduates in October annually (ie., 2 months after the completion of summer internship) rather than having to wait till the beginning of the following year (for those in B-schools with a 2-yr MBA programme)3. Cost-effective and Immediate Relevance - All of the NANYANG MBA Talent are already based here in Singapore. Hence, you will undoubtedly save on cost of having to relocate and house those from B-schools in the US or Europe to Asia. Secondly, our NANYANG MBA programme is primarily based on "real & up-to-date" business case studies and strategic reviews of companies based in Asia (both MNCs as well as Asian Companies), and hence, they are very familiar and up-to-date with the latest business information and trends across Asia, which translates to faster & immediate contribution to the respective projects during the internship.
4. Value of Internship/Project Assignment - Our NANYANG MBA are keen to add "value" to your organisation and most MBA assignments would revolve around business development activities, such as market feasibility, market penetration, pricing and product benchmarking, competitor analyses, and country market entry. Likewise, with strong verbal and written ability in many Asian, European and Latin American languages, our NANYANG MBA are able to conduct many of these market driven projects in respective local languages, while based in Singapore. We expect all our NANYANG MBA to present a final project report to the Organisations (which may or may not include a final presentation).
Below are examples of some recent Intern Projects:
i. Food & Beverage Company (minimum of 2 months) - 1 MBA Intern undertaking a market entry business plan for Singapore for one of their new products; this entry involves sizing the market, mapping the competitive landscape, identifying the distribution channels, and determining the customer segmentation.
ii. Distributor of High End Luxury Goods (3 month project) - 2 MBA Interns each undertaking a market entry assessment for different regions in the African market, while based here in Singapore. This includes mapping the competitor landscape, pricing, and supply chain issues.
iii. Smart Cards Producer (minimum of 2 months) - 1 MBA Intern responsible for identifying new markets for their existing products, especially in the cashless segment of the consumer market.
iv. Real Estate Engineering & Construction Company (6 weeks) - 1 MBA Intern responsible for mapping the Infrastructure Segment and the avenues for capital acquisition for the Vietnam Market, while based in Singapore. The report is in English, but the communication with the Vietnam market was in Vietnamese.
